School Council

At St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, VA, we have a thriving and ambitious School Council.

Pupil Voice is very important to us at St Mary’s and we try to involve the School Council in all major decision making processes and school development areas.

During 2024/25 the School Council:

1. Interviewed the Headteacher
2. Recruited for a new Classroom Teacher
3. Recruited for a new Classroom Teaching Assistant
4. Met with the local Selby MP
5. Provided feedback on spending plans for 2024/25.
6. Supported the staff in running the Christmas Fair.

Every child in school has the opportunity to become a member of the School Council, if they wish. Voting takes place annually. All terms last one Academic year.
